GDPR May 2018

From May 25, 2018, new EU regulations come in to force – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Silkwood Traders is complying with GDPR by:

  1. ensuring all existing and new customers signing up to our email newsletter are able to do so by actively confirming their consent, such as ticking an unchecked opt-in box.
  2. keeping evidence of customer consent. This is provided and stored via Silkwood Trader’s secure Mailchimp account and a customer may request evidence of their opt-in request at any time either by contacting Silkwood Traders or Mailchimp.
  3. ensuring that all customers may unsubscribe from email and marketing communications at any time.
  4.  by gathering and storing customers’ personal data in line with the GDPR. Silkwood Traders uses Mailchimp for email marketing purposes and WordPress/Woocommerce for our website. These international companies use the latest encrypted technology to keep customer data safe.

Data Protection

We treat all your Personal Information as confidential (although we reserve the right to disclose information which is requested by law or for the prevention and detection of fraud or crime). We will keep it secure and comply with all applicable UK Data Protection.

When you shop with Silkwood Traders we will ask you to input personal information. We may store information about where you are on the internet (e.g. the URL you came from, IP address, domain types), your browser type, the country and telephone area code where your computer is located, the pages of our website that were viewed during your visit and any advertisements you clicked on. We will use this information to enhance the quality of our service and to process your order. We may also pass your details on to courier services and Royal Mail to enable parcels to be sent to you using trackable services.

You will be given the option to receive information from Silkwood Traders by e-mail. This will be about products, promotions or special offers that we feel may be of interest to you. You may unsubscribe from our contact list at any time by clicking unsubscribe.

Your personal information may be disclosed to reputable third parties (i.e Bank and Sagepay) who will help process your order. Silkwoodtraders.com requires all such third parties to treat your personal information as confidential and to comply with all applicable UK Data Protection. We will not release your personal information to any company outside the Silkwood Traders group for mailing or marketing purposes without your prior consent.

We use Cookies to keep track of your current shopping session, to personalise your experience and so that you may retrieve your shopping basket at any time – if you do not accept Cookies you will be unable to use this website.

Security

We use Internet standard encryption technology to protect sensitive data when you transmit it to us. This process is known as SSL (secure sockets layer). We are constantly updating our technology to provide you with the maximum practicable level of security. To check that you are in a secure area of our site look at the bottom of your browser and you will see a closed padlock or an unbroken key. In addition you can tell whether a page is secure, as ‘https’ will replace the ‘http’ in front of www.silkwoodtraders.com in your browser address window.

We use secure Cardnet (Lloyds Bank plc) and SagePay which means we have the latest technology in fraud protection. Your card details are not divulged to us and we do not keep a record of your payment card details on our servers.

Please note that we will never ask for a customer to confirm any account or credit card details via email – If you receive an email claiming to be from silkwoodtraders.com asking you to submit account or credit card details please do not respond, instead forward the email to: info@silkwoodtraders.com.

However, we cannot guarantee that your use of this website or any websites accessible through it won’t cause harm to your computer.
